Remembrance

On Monday, the whole community of Pencombe gathered together to remember the fallen at the memorial.
Reverend Sidwell let the service and poems were recited by the children, prayers were read and a two minute silence took place to remember our fallen heroes.
Four children were chosen to lay crosses for Frank Livingstone, Walter Thompson, John Weathersby and Thomas Weathersby (the four local soldiers killed in WW1)

After the service, the whole school congregated around the tree that was planted to commemorate Rifleman William Aldridge, a former pupil at Pencombe, who was just 18 years old when he died whilst serving his country in Afghanistan, 2009. A new plaque has been created for William. Thank you to E M Davis, Hereford.
