Holocaust Memorial Day

Today we remember the Holocaust – a very sad time when millions of Jewish people, along with Roma people, disabled people, homosexuals, and others, were hurt or killed simply because of who they were.

We remember them to honour their lives and to remind ourselves why it is so important to be kind, to stand up for others, and to make sure something like this never happens again.

Oak class are learning about WWII and have lit candles to show love, respect, and remembrance for those who suffered, and to remind everyone that we must always treat everyone with kindness and respect — no matter who they are, what they believe, or how they choose to live their lives.

One special family at Pencombe lit three additional candles to commemorate two great grand mothers and a great grand father who survived being at Majdanek concentration camp during WWII.
‘We pray for peace in their memories, strength for their families, and kindness in our own hearts.’
