Ascension Day celebrations

On Thursday, the whole school walked up Durstone Hill with their parents, the most beautiful and scenic of areas within Pencombe, to celebrate Ascension Day.

Reverend Sidwell led us all in collective worship; hymns were sang, our Y5 children reenacted out the Bible story and Y2 led us in prayer.

Mrs Brown used a balloon to represent Jesus, that we were his disciples and that he will come again.

The children flew kites and is was the most amazing of afternoons.

Thank you to Sarah who allowed us the use of her windy field!

Luke 24:50: Jesus leads the eleven remaining disciples to Bethany, a village on the Mount of Olives, and instructs them to remain in Jerusalem until the coming of the Holy Spirit: “And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.
