Oak Class were absolutely thrilled yesterday when WWII truly came to life through a fascinating collection of real wartime artefacts.
Alfie brought in his great-grandfather’s treasured WWII items — including a bayonet, binoculars and playing cards — which the children were captivated by. They asked thoughtful questions and loved having the chance to handle objects with such historical significance.
A huge thank you to Freja’s dad also, who kindly allowed the children to see a real ‘Tommy Gun’ (fully decommissioned, of course!). The children were amazed to see an object they had only ever encountered in books and lessons, and it sparked some brilliant discussions.
Thank you, Alfie, for sharing such special items with us — it was a wonderful experience for the whole class.
