The Importance of Reading

Reading is one of the most important skills for a child as they progress through their primary years to set them up for life.

It is a great way to learn new words, explore fun stories, and enhance their imagination. It helps them understand things better, do well academically, and even learn about people and places around the world. The more they read, the more they know, and the more fun they can have with books!

After speaking with children in Willow class, they have decided they would like to reintroduce a reward system for reading in the form of a punch card. They can earn stamps by reading independently, reading to family members at home, or reading to adults in school.

Once a punch card is full they will receive a raffle ticket which will then be added to a prize pot in order to win different prizes…what a great idea! Billy and Martha are this week’s reading champions for excellent effort and both completing their reading tokens🏅📚

Please continue to support your children by listening and encouraging them to read and asking questions about the text.
