“Toby and the Great Fire of London” - Talk4Writing

At Pencombe, we use Pie Corbett’s ‘Talk4Reading and Talk4Writing’ schemes of work to support our English curriculum.

Talk4Writing is a teaching approach that helps children develop writing skills by imitating, innovating, and independently applying language structures. It uses oral storytelling, story maps, and actions to internalise language patterns before moving to writing.

Talk for Reading focuses on developing comprehension and critical thinking through structured discussion and exploration of texts.

Here are Cherry class retelling the model text “Toby and the Great Fire of London”, a diary extract, with actions and visuals that they have learnt in class….super work Cherry class!
We hope you like it Pie!
