Today we celebrated World Book Day! It was a week later than the actual day, but we had such a busy week last week that we wanted our day to special – and it really was!

We did things a little differently this year. Instead of dressing as our favourite character, our theme was “authors”. The children were asked to create a magical suitcase using a shoebox, inspired by The Strangeworld’s Travel Agency. This suitcase would be the stimulus for a portal story where they could be transported to a destination of their choice.

The children came into school with the most wonderful and inspiring suitcases, and this allowed them to write portal stories (watch this space for completed examples!!)
