Welcome to Pencombe CE School
Please find a copy of our latest Ofsted report in the Information section. We are extremely proud to say that within the report, it states that: ‘There is a strong team ethos across the school. Governors and staff are committed to seeing the school improve, and parents are appreciative of how the leadership and staff support their children. Pupil’s grow in knowledge and understanding through a well-balanced curriculum with a strong focus to improve basic skills. Teaching is effective across the school and successfully supports children with all abilities.’
One parent wrote: “My child enjoys going to school and is being looked after. If I have any worries, I speak to the teachers.”

P.E. and Sport

PE at Pencombe CE Primary School develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, swimming, athletics and outdoor adventurous activities.

PE promotes an understanding of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills and it promotes positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. Thus we enable children to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives.

The school has a strong sporting tradition and has a number of school/club links. Subsequently the children will get the chance to work alongside a number of specialist sports coaches from the RFU, FA and ECB.

Our PE links with other schools and the wider community
Now that our school is part of HMFA, we are able to take an active part in competitions with other schools within HMFA. These competitions are:

HMFA competitions
Football, netball, rounders, cricket, athletics, tag rugby, multi skills, cross country and gymnastics tournaments and events.

EXTRA CURRICULAR
PE ACTIVITIES

All children at Pencombe have the opportunity to take part in a range of extra-curricular PE activities. There are weekly after clubs as well as regular inter-house competitions that take place during lunch times. These clubs are well attended.

The children will also get opportunities to compete in several HMFA tournaments including Hockey, Netball, Tag Rugby, Football, Gymnastics, Tennis, Cricket and Athletics. In addition to this they will also compete against other Herefordshire schools at regional tournaments and at the Hereford Swimming Gala.
