Please find a copy of our latest Ofsted report in the Information section. We are extremely proud to say that within the report, it states that: ‘There is a strong team ethos across the school. Governors and staff are committed to seeing the school improve, and parents are appreciative of how the leadership and staff support their children. Pupil’s grow in knowledge and understanding through a well-balanced curriculum with a strong focus to improve basic skills. Teaching is effective across the school and successfully supports children with all abilities.’
One parent wrote: “My child enjoys going to school and is being looked after. If I have any worries, I speak to the teachers.”

Governing Body

What do governors do?

As Governors we have certain responsibilities which have a strong focus on three core functions:-

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
  • Welcome from the Chair of Governors

Pencombe CE Primary School is situated in the heart of the village and is located between the church and the village hall. We are proud of our strong relationships with both neighbours. All pupils and staff attend weekly Wednesday Worship in the church, led by our Rector. Parents and other family members also take part in these services along with members of the village community. We also attend church to celebrate various Christian festivals including Easter and Christmas. We welcome children from any faith as well as those of no faith. The village hall is the venue for our PE lessons and our various musical and dramatic productions.

The school prides itself on being a safe and welcoming environment where the staff are committed to ensuring that all children achieve the best possible outcomes and skills that will equip them for the rest of their lives. Our children are happy and enjoy coming to school.

As part of the HMFA – the Herefordshire Marches Federation of Academies – we share in the benefits of being part of a larger community whilst still maintaining our unique identity. Our staff

can benefit from shared expertise of subject specialist teachers and the pupils have extra opportunities for a variety of sporting, musical and residential trips.

The school has a thriving PTFA which works tirelessly to raise funds to support the school and provide social events.
